Shoulder Pain Treatment in Halifax

Shoulder Pain Limits Everything. Let’s Fix It.

The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body — which also makes it one of the most vulnerable. Whether your pain came on suddenly from an injury or has been building for months, at Revital Wellness we take the time to identify exactly what’s driving it. Then we fix it.

What’s Causing Your Shoulder Pain?

Shoulder pain is rarely straightforward — and the wrong diagnosis leads to the wrong treatment. At Revital Wellness, we assess the full shoulder complex before recommending any intervention.

Rotator Cuff Strain or Tear

The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint. Strains and partial tears are extremely common — from acute injury or chronic overuse — and cause pain with reaching, lifting, and overhead movement.

Shoulder Impingement Syndrome

When the rotator cuff tendons are pinched between the bones of the shoulder during movement. Causes aching pain at the front or side of the shoulder, worsening with arm elevation.

Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)

Progressive stiffening of the shoulder joint capsule that leads to severe restriction of movement and constant aching. Often develops gradually and can last months to years without proper treatment.

AC Joint Sprain

The acromioclavicular joint connects the shoulder blade to the collarbone. Sprains are common from falls or contact sports and cause localized pain at the top of the shoulder.

Biceps Tendinopathy

Inflammation or degeneration of the long head of the biceps tendon, causing pain at the front of the shoulder that worsens with lifting and overhead activity.

Labral Tear (SLAP Tear)

The labrum is the ring of cartilage that deepens the shoulder socket. Tears — often from trauma or repetitive overhead loading — cause deep joint pain, instability, and clicking.

Shoulder Bursitis

Inflammation of the bursa sac that cushions the rotator cuff tendons. Causes significant pain and tenderness, especially with arm elevation and lying on the affected side.

How We Treat This at Revital Wellness

The advantage of Revital Wellness is a full team under one roof — your care is coordinated across all disciplines from day one.

Chiropractic

Assesses shoulder mechanics, thoracic mobility, and cervical involvement to find what’s loading the joint. Manual therapy, soft tissue work, and adjustments reduce impingement, nerve irritation, and joint stress.
Impingement, AC joint sprains, postural dysfunction, cervicogenic shoulder pain, rotator cuff issues.

Offered by: Dr. Ryan Rival, DC

Physiotherapy

Detailed assessment — strength testing, range of motion, movement screening — drives a targeted rehab plan. Progressive strengthening, manual therapy, and dry needling restore function and prevent recurrence.
Rotator cuff tears, labral issues, frozen shoulder, post-surgical rehab, bursitis, biceps tendinopathy.

Offered by: Liam Walker, PT; Cheryl Baker, PT
Massage Therapy

The upper traps, pec minor, and periscapular muscles drive shoulder mechanics. Targeted massage releases tension, reduces pain, and boosts the rest of your treatment plan.
Rotator cuff tension, impingement, postural dysfunction, bursitis, injury recovery.

Offered by: Janice Fleet, RMT | Shamus Stapleton, RMT
Acupuncture

Reduces inflammation in the shoulder bursa and tendons, calms nerve hypersensitivity, and supports healing — especially for chronic pain and cases unresponsive to other treatments.
Chronic shoulder pain, bursitis, rotator cuff tendinopathy, post-surgical recovery, frozen shoulder.

Offered by: Lisa Hadley, R.Ac

Frequently Asked Questions About Shoulder Pain Treatment in Halifax

How do I know if my shoulder pain needs treatment?

If your shoulder pain has lasted more than 2 weeks, is limiting your daily activities, woke you up at night, or came from an injury — it needs assessment. Shoulder conditions rarely resolve fully without the right treatment, and many worsen over time if left alone.

Yes. Many shoulder conditions are driven or worsened by cervical spine dysfunction and thoracic stiffness. Our chiropractor assesses both the shoulder and the spine, and uses manual therapy to restore proper mechanics throughout the entire chain.

Acute strains and impingement often respond well in 6-10 sessions. Frozen shoulder and rotator cuff tears require a longer course of care. After your assessment, we’ll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific diagnosis.

Do you direct bill insurance for shoulder pain treatment?

Yes. We direct bill most major insurance providers for chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, and acupuncture. Bring your insurance card to your first appointment.

No referral needed. Book directly for any discipline. If your insurance requires a referral for reimbursement, check your plan — but you can walk in without one.
